The companies behind two online betting sites are set to launch an ICO next week, bringing their bets to cryptocurrency, according to a report from the Wall Street Journal.
BetOnline and PaddyPower are both launching an ICO to fund their growth, the WSJ said.
Both companies said they plan to use cryptocurrency to help them expand and become more competitive.
The WSJ reports that the companies have not yet released their ICO plans but will do so in the coming months.
Betonline said in a statement that they will invest in a blockchain platform and are working to develop a decentralized platform that allows for faster, more reliable, and cheaper bets.
PaddyPower said it plans to launch its own ICO later this year, the Wall St Journal said.
PaddyMoney, an online betting service, will also use cryptocurrencies, according the WSG.
The companies said in their statement that their platforms are designed to be fully transparent and allow anyone to bet on any sport or event, including live events.
They also said they are aiming to build out a new suite of technology and operations to help their teams and employees better operate in the cryptocurrency space.
The startups also said that they plan on building out new features to make the sites more appealing to new users, as well as developing a broader product suite.
